Watching seeds germinate is fantastic activity for kids especially when they develop quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago Sativa) is a simple to grow seed that should sprout in around a week. To see the seeds germinate in the soil, حبوب البرسيم sprinkle a few alfalfa seedlings on a sheet of wet paper towel.

You Will Need:
Alfalfa seeds in a packet (about 1.5g)
A small dish or saucer
Three pieces of paper towel
A spray mister or a small water jug

How to Grow:
Put 3 sheets of paper towel on a plate.
Take the water off the plate. The paper towel needs to be damp, however the seeds must not be floating in water.
Sprinkle the seeds thickly onto the towel.
Place on a sunny windowsill with water to stop the paper towel from drying out. You can use a mister or spray bottle to soak the seeds or gently add a small amount of water to the saucer by using either a small cup or jug.
You should check your seeds daily to see how they're developing.

Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seed is easy to plant and should begin to germinate in 2-6 days. If seeds do not germinate within this time frame there are a few things that might have gone wrong:

Too dry. Seeds require water to develop. Seeds of alfalfa absorb approximately half their weight in water prior to they germinate. This makes the appearance of swollen. If your seeds are too dry, they won't sprout. You can add more water to the plate so the seeds are damp but not floating in water. You can also soak your seeds for a few hours. Make sure you remove them and wash them thoroughly before placing them to a towel.

Too moist Seeds that are moist could cause their roots and shoots to become rotten before they grow. Seeds can also turn mouldy. Although it's fine for the paper towel as well as the seeds to remain damp, they shouldn't be submerged in water. Each time you mist or water the seeds, you should drain any excess water.

Too cold or too hot: Alfalfa grows best in temperatures between 20 and 25°C. If you're growing your seed indoors in winter, place them in a cool area. If you are growing your seeds in extremely warm temperatures you may need to water your seeds more frequently since they'll dry out faster.
