As for the building mechanics with the Karakuri? I honestly preferred using them for traversal more than fighting. Grappling hooks, helicopter lanterns, wind turbine generators, jump pads - you name it, there's probably a way to build it. It's like you have the entirety of Crash Bandicoot's level design in your back pocket, if you're willing to invest the time into getting to the best options. That's not purely a matter of grinding either, as certain buildables can only be unlocked at random when facing a Kemono's specific attack, which is... odd. I don't think any other game has had something akin to a PTSD triggering grant unlockables, but you do you, Wild Hearts.

Meanwhile, one of the hardest yet most fascinating weapons to wield is an umbrella that lacks major damage output at the start but can actually parry monster attacks directly if you time it right. Players who’d gotten even further unlocked an incredible late-game staff that you can transform on the fly into over a half-dozen different alternate forms of attack. Yet if you want simplicity, you can still break out the swords, pikes, and hammers to slash and smash. It's a solid set of options worth mastering.
