<br> | <br>Arknights ' cast is almost entirely full of humans with some animal traits, typically ears or horns, but Wei Yenwu, the chief of the city of Lungmen nicknamed Wei the Cunning, is on a whole other level. His character design and the regal nature of his office immediately make an impression, giving him a unique air of significance in this world that solidifies the strength he holds within the sc<br><br> <br>For what it's worth, it accomplishes that competently, but if that qualifier sounds a bit dry and sapped of enthusiasm, it's because the premiere is only alright. Competency isn't inherently an appraisal of success but a recognition of hitting the fundamentals, which is to say that the Arknights show may pique one's interest, but it might take another episode or two to really grip the audie<br><br> <br>So all seems well, but it wouldn't be surprising if there was some tension arising later, especially given the treatment of infected in the city. For the time being though, that's the least of the characters' concerns, as the episode ends with a new antagonist watching on from h<br><br> <br>In this world, there are those infected with Oripathy, an infection that causes people to slowly crystalize until their body fractures and spreads the disease. The cost seems to outweigh the primary benefit, which is the ability to cast magic . The world of Terra is prejudiced against those who possess Oripathy, even though it isn't spread through to<br><br> <br>Last week, the powerful fire-wielding Talulah cornered the members of Rhodes Island and saw fit to incinerate the lot of them. As Episode 3 opens, Amiya demonstrates her own power in shielding her allies, though only so far as to hold off what seems like an inevitably bloody bat<br><br> <br>Arknights ' TV series is already almost half over, and thus far the world is compelling and yearning to be shown off through the beautiful artwork more, but the story and characters themselves are mixed. Amiya is a far more interesting protagonist than she was in the first episode, but the cast at large hasn't yet truly impressed <br><br> <br>The appearance of W in this episode encapsulates this perfectly. Once again, a character with a cool design pops up and corners the heroes with a retinue of Reunion henchmen. But all they do is ask for the Doctor to be handed over, get turned down, and then just walk away ominously. They may as well have said, "see you in a few episodes when I matt<br><br> <br>The city of Chernobog never moved away from the oncoming catastrophe, even though the cities are established to be mobile, and it's unclear why. Sabotage could be the answer, but if that's the case, it makes one wonder how a similar fate might befall the metropolis that is Lungmen. In the aftermath, Rhodes Island has geared up for their next quest: brokering an alliance with the higher-ups in Lungmen to protect the city from another attack from Reun<br><br> <br>Originium is a conduit for energy, but it can also give people Oripathy, meaning that those with the infection can use Arts because of the Originium in their bodies. However, the powers also use life force as fuel, hence Rhodes Island's quest to cure it. It's a fascinating power system with some tangible drawbacks that add dr<br> <br>Unfortunately, the only way it appears on the planet is through catastrophes. This obviously makes living in one place for too long a big risk, and as the episode explains, the cities in the world of Terra are mobile , a surprise revelation that makes a lot of sense. As the characters themselves point out, the mystery is why Chernobog didn't m<br><br> <br>Ace's death should serve as some catalyst for character growth; a tragedy that pushes the characters forward, but it feels like it just happens, which is unfortunate. This episode also leads one to worry about how fleshed-out the characters will be in this series, given a clearly large cast, but only limited time to show t<br><br> <br>In stark contrast to the towering buildings seen in the early episode, the slums of Lungmen appear almost a world away, and it's there that we find Misha, an Ursus girl on the run. She's hidden among the undocumented infected flocking to Lungmen, though not much else is revealed about her thus far.
