Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is one of the optional bosses in the game, that you will encounter in Chapter 1. However, you will find it in a slightly hidden area in the Bamboo Groove area, and you might miss it if you haven't explored enough.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is one of the several frog-like bosses that you’ll encounter throughout the game. Defeating it also rewards the player with his Spirit Summon. Compared to other optional bosses, Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is fairly easy to deal with, even without many Spark upgrades.

How To Find Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is a Yaoguai chief boss that can be accessed after reaching the Bamboo Groove area . From the Snake Trail Shrine, you can jump off the log to your left , and then you’ll land in a small canal. There will be a Snake-like warrior on the ledge right next to the canal.

Defeating the warrior with a snake's face and progressing further will lead you to the Guangmou Boss Battle, but to find Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang, you’ll have to go in the opposite direction from the Snake-like warrior until you reach an open pond. Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang will be waiting for you there.

We recommend you go upstairs from the Snake Trail Shrine first , where you’ll encounter the monk who will cast a spell on your gourd, allowing you to absorb spirits and use them in battle.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang Attacks

Attack

|

Description

|

How To Avoid

---|---|---

Leap and Shriek

|

If you enter its range for the first time, the boss will leap towards you and unleash a short shriek that stuns you for a short duration.

|

You can easily avoid Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s leap by dodging backwards . The shriek has a short range, but even if you get hit by it, it only stuns you momentarily and doesn’t deal any damage.

Hand Sweep

|

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang will often use his hands to do a sweep attack. It doesn’t deal a lot of damage, but the sweeps can knock you down , allowing the boss to continue its offense.

|

The hand sweeps have a short range and can easily be dodged by sprinting out of its range or by dodging at the correct time.

Ground Slam

|

The boss will often slam the ground if you’re at close range.

|

The attack can be avoided by sprinting out of its range or by dodging backwards .

Backleg thrust

|

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s most annoying attack is when it turns its back on you and does a kick . The boss can throw this attack multiple times in quick succession.

|

The correct way to dodge this attack is to dodge forward at the correct time. If you successfully dodge this attack, you’ll come to its front, preventing it from immediately continuing its offense, and you'll be able to get a few attacks in.

Jumping Attack

|

The boss will often jump into the air, slamming the ground as it lands.

|

Sprint away or dodge away from the boss to avoid this attack.

Tongue Sweep Combo

|

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang will often pull out its tongue and do a three-hit combo attack .

|

Dodging this attack from his front is difficult as you must dodge at the perfect time. However, if you manage to avoid the first attack and quickly sprint to its side , the boss will miss the entire combo.

Tummy Tackle

|

The boss will lean back a little, and immediately launch itself towards you, tackling the Destined One with its stomach .

|

The attack has a long range and is difficult to predict. You can still avoid this by dodging to the sides at the correct time.

If you’ve equipped some gear, such as the Pilgrim’s armor set which can be crafted at the Keeper's Shrine , you’ll be able to tank most of the attacks easily. Most attacks leave this boss completely open for your offense, if you’ve managed to successfully evade them, such as the Tongue Sweep Combo.

Avoiding the Tummy Tackle is difficult, and even if you get hit by it, just get up quickly and get out of the boss’ effective range . All of the other attacks are fairly slow and can easily be dodged after visually confirming what attack the boss is going to throw at you.

How To Defeat Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang

The real threat right before you enter this boss fight is the lesser frogs that are in the arena, which may prevent you from avoiding Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s initial attacks. There would be a total of three lesser frogs in the area. Two of them can be dealt with as soon as you enter the arena before beginning the boss fight.

The third and final lesser frog is right under the boss’ range and if you attack it, the boss will leap towards you. It’s best to quickly take care of the third lesser frog and then focus on the boss fight.

The strategy to deal with this boss is simple, you have to stay on its sides and avoid its hand sweeps . You can also sprint and circle around the boss to get behind it and then throw your attacks, but you’ll have to be wary of its Backleg Thrust attack.

Immobilizing the boss during its combos is also a good strategy to get it off you and heal yourself. If you’re doing good, you can use the Immobilize spell to continue your offense.

The Rewards For Defeating Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang

Defeating Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang rewards you with 392 Will, 2 Yarn, and 482 Experience . You also receive a Tadpole for defeating the boss. However, the real reward for defeating this boss is its Spirit Summon.

If you’ve talked to the monk near the Snake Trail Shrine , you’ll be able to absorb Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s Spirit and will be able to take its form during battles. Equipping its Spirit Summon will also passively reduce the stamina cost of jumps and jumping attacks.

The Tadpole is a required item for upgrading this Spirit Summon . After defeating Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang, you’ll be able to upgrade its Spirit Summon only once with the tadpole you have received as a reward for the battle, but you will obtain more later in the game after fighting more frogs.

By using Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s Spirit Summon, you’ll take its form and use its tongue to sweep an area in front of you , dealing a fair amount of damage. It can be useful while fighting against a horde of enemies, which you will often do as you progress through the game.

The Tiger Relic is a soak obtained by draining the blood pool in the Tiger Vanguard's boss room and heading beneath that area. To do this, you'll need to defeat the Tiger Vanguard and the Stone Vanguard, retrieving masks from them that can be placed on the statue in front of the pool. Once this is done, the pool will drain and you can head down. When you reach the section where you slide down towards the Cellar Shrine, you'll need to jump and perform a heavy attack while sliding to gain the height and distance to reach the platform where the relic is found.

Quests Old Rattle-Drum Quest Guide All Side Quests Great Side Quests You Should Not Skip Drunken Pig Quest Walkthrough (How to Reach Secret Kingdom Of Sahali) Buddha's Eyeball Guide Chen Loong Quest Guide (How to Reach Zodiac Village) Treasure Hunter Quest Guide (Chapter 3 Secret Boss) How To Get Turtle Tear For Turtle Quest Daoist Mi Quest Guide (Violet Hail Transformation) Man In Stone Quest Guide (Azure Dust Spell Location) Prisoner Quest Guide (How To Get Chu-Bai Spear) Fox Quest Guide Horse Guai Quest Guide

Bosses How To Beat Captain Wise-Voice Hardest Boss Fights Hardest Yaoguai Chiefs Mini-Boss Fights, Ranked Best Boss Fights Lingxuzi Boss Guide (How To Reach & Beat) How to Beat Fuban How To Beat Giant Shigandang (Medicine Meal Trophy/Achievement) How to Beat Wandering Wight How To Find & Beat Kang-Jin Loong How To Beat Whiteclad Noble How to Beat Guangmou Elder Jinchi Guide (How To Reach & Beat) Guangzhi Boss Guide How To Beat Black Wind King How To Beat Black Bear Guai How To Find & Beat Captain Kalpa-Wave How to Beat the Yellow Wind Sage How to Beat Cloudy Mist and Misty Cloud How To Beat Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast (Bull King's Horn Location) How To Find & Beat Cloudtreading Deer How To Find & Beat Monk from the Sea (Hoarfrost Transformation) How to Reach and Beat The Mad Tiger How To Beat Red Boy How to Reach and Beat Yellowbrow How To Beat Zhu Bajie How to Beat Keeper of Flaming Mountains and Yin-Yang Fish Where To Find Red Loong (Secret Boss Location) How To Find & Beat Black Loong (Secret Boss Location) Where To Find & Beat Cyan Loong (Chapter 3 Secret Boss) Where to Find Yellow Loong (Chapter 4 Secret Boss) How To Beat Yellow Loong (Golden Loong Staff Location) How To Beat The Scorpionlord Best Secret Bosses, Ranked How To Beat The Great Sage's Broken Shell (Final Boss) How to Reach and Beat Erlang Shen (Secret Boss) How To Find & Beat Apramana Bat Boss (Missable Boss) How to Find & Beat The Duskveil All Poison Chief Boss Locations All Black Wind Mountain Boss Locations (Chapter 1) All Yellow Wind Ridge Boss Locations (Chapter 2) All New West Boss Locations (Chapter 3) All Webbed Hollow Boss Locations (Chapter 4) All Flaming Mountains Boss Locations (Chapter 5) All Mount Huaguo Boss Locations (Chapter 6) All Bosses & Where To Find Them How To Beat Yin Tiger (Iron-Tough Armor) How To Beat Feng-Tail General How To Beat Yaksha King Bosses You Should Fight With The Thrust Stance Bosses You Should Fight With The Pillar Stance Bosses You Should Fight With The Smash Stance How To Beat Tiger Vanguard (Crouching Tiger Temple) How To Beat Gold Armored Rhino (Gold Suozi Armor Location) How to Beat Fast as Wind, Quick as Fire How To Find & Beat Non-Able How To Find & Beat Emerald Armed Mantis

To craft new armor, simply head to any Shrine after unlocking a new set, go into the crafting menu, hit "Craft Armor," then select the set you'd like to make.
