Hurdle Star Rushed To Hospital In A Neck Brace After Horror Fall

Spanish hurdler Enrique Llopis was in hospital on Sunday night after a horror fall in the 60 metres hurdles final at the European Indoor Championships.
The 22-year-old, who was a medal contender in the race, lay motionless on the track after he crashed into the final hurdle and Şirinevler Bayan Escort smashed his head on the floor.
Medics quickly rushed to the aid of Llopis, who was shielded from of spectators by a white tent.

The crowd inside the Atakoy Arena in Istanbul fell silent as doctors treated the stricken athlete for five minutes.
Llopis was eventually carried off the track on a stretcher and in a neck brace, with a doctor from the Spanish team giving a thumbs-up, leading to applause from the stands.

The Spanish federation later said their participant was transferred to hospital by ambulance but he was conscious. 
‘The message we were looking forward to hearing.

@llopis110 is fine and wants to thank you for all the support you have shown him in these last few hours,' they said. 
Llopis had won his semi-final and was in contention for a bronze medal in a race which was won by Switzerland's Jason Joseph ahead of Poland's Jakub Szymanski.
Britain's David King finished seventh.
